SARC announce IRC on-line meetings

With the aim of establishing closer links and interaction between the many Acorn computer clubs, the Suffolk Acorn Risc Club (SARC) are pleased to announce that starting on Tuesday 1st September 1998 they will operating a weekly IRC chat session on the WolfChat server www.wolfchat.org

The aim of the project is to provide the means whereby the members of clubs and individuals who use Acorn computers can meet on line and discuss topics of mutual interest. And in the developing the project SARC will be working in association with the Welwyn & Hatfield Computer Group (WHCC).

Unlike existing channels such as #acorn and #argonet which appear to cater primarily for social chat, the new #SARC and #WHCC channels will be devoted to serious discussion aimed at establishing and maintaining interaction between the various clubs and individuals who are users of Acorn machines. And to that end we hope to arrange for "guests" to come on line to talk, and answer questions, about their hardware/software products.

Port : 7000

Channel #WHCC
Use : General meeting area for WHCC members, but non-members are welcome to visit
Dates : Officially alternate Fridays whern there is no WHCC club meet. In reality, every Friday.
Times : 20:00 till late

Contact : Geoff Lane Channel #SARC
Use : General meeting area for SARC members, but non-members are wlecome to visit
Dates : Every Tuesday
Times : 20:00 till late

Channel #AcornClub
Use : Open area for anyone with an interest in Acorn computers
Dates: No formal dates, tends to be active during WHCC & SARC meets
Times : As per WHCC and SARC meets
